Lady Gaga MAYHEM vs Requiem: Studio or Live?

Start with Lady Gaga’s studio album MAYHEM, then try the same song on MAYHEM Requiem. The 2026 live release revisits the songs with different arrangements, so it offers another way into the album rather than replacing the originals. “Die With A Smile” is a useful first comparison.

An arrangement is how a song is presented through instruments, rhythm and vocals. A familiar title can therefore lead to a very different recording. When you search for one of these songs, check whether the release says MAYHEM or Apple Music Live.

Compare “Die With A Smile” first

The original is Gaga’s duet with Bruno Mars. Apple Music describes the Requiem performance as an electro-funk reworking. That makes this pair a useful introduction to what “reimagined” means: you can follow one song across two versions instead of learning two unfamiliar songs at once.

Try the original first, then the live clip. Pay attention to the rhythm and instrumental backing as well as the melody. You do not need to choose a winner; the point is to find which recording you want to return to.

Where to go after that comparison

For the studio album’s dance side, choose “Abracadabra.” Apple Music’s album notes place it among the dance-floor opening tracks. Watch the official music video, then find the live version on Requiem. Apple describes the live project as featuring Gaga at piano or synths with reimagined arrangements.

For another Requiem performance, try “Killah.” Apple’s album notes highlight its industrial sound. The official live video gives you another example before you commit to the full release. Compare it with the studio recording featuring Gesaffelstein.
