QWER for Beginners: The Band Behind T.B.H
QWER are a four-member Korean band built around drums, bass, guitar and vocals. Start with “T.B.H” for a story about a shy crush, “Discord” for fast playing and lively guitar riffs, or “My Name Is Malguem” for piano, guitar and hope after sadness. Here is how the four names, instruments and songs fit together.

Four letters, four parts: who are QWER?
Say the name as four letters: Q-W-E-R. Their official Warner Music Japan profile explains the reference to keyboard letters and online-game skill keys. In a game, the different skills work in combination; in QWER, different musical parts come together as a band. You do not need to play the game to understand the idea.
The four members are Chodan, Magenta, Hina and Siyeon. The table follows the Q/W/E/R letter order from their debut album introduction, rather than the order in the photograph.
| Letter | Member / Korean name | Band part |
|---|---|---|
| Q | Chodan · 쵸단 | Drums |
| W | Magenta · 마젠타 | Bass |
| E | Hina · 히나 | Guitar and keyboards |
| R | Siyeon · 시연 | Main vocals; also guitar |
Warner’s profile identifies those principal roles; Yonhap’s album-showcase report also lists Siyeon on second guitar. The lineup gives you a useful way to follow a performance: drums establish the pulse, bass supplies the low notes, guitar and keyboards add melodic or chordal parts, and the main vocal carries the song. These are starting points for listening, rather than a rule that only one member can sing.
QWER formed through a YouTube-based project led by creator Kim Gye-ran, bringing together members with different backgrounds. Their debut release, Harmony from Discord, arrived on October 18, 2023. Warner describes their band sound as recalling Japanese rock and anime songs—helpful reference points if you already enjoy that music and are starting to explore Korean bands.
Three QWER songs to start with
“T.B.H” (고민중독): begin with the feeling
Our first pick is “T.B.H,” the title track of the April 2024 mini album MANITO. The album introduction frames the song around wanting to get closer to someone, rehearsing what to say and hesitating through shyness. That is an approachable story even before you know every Korean word. The Korean title, 고민중독, and “T.B.H” identify the same track.
Watch QWER’s official T.B.H music video. If the emotional story interests you, continue to “My Name Is Malguem.” If you want another angle on this particular song, keep the melody in mind for the special THE FIRST TAKE arrangement below.
“Discord”: go back to the debut
Choose “Discord” when you want the guitar-led route. Its official album introduction specifically highlights quick, energetic playing, lively guitar riffs and witty lyrics. Released in October 2023, it also connects directly to the band’s original idea: people with different personalities creating a shared harmony.
Play the official Discord video. Then try “My Name Is Malguem” to explore a different instrumental combination, with piano alongside guitar.
“My Name Is Malguem” (내 이름 맑음): find the hope inside the sadness
This September 2024 title track comes from Algorithm’s Blossom. Its credits list Soyeon as lyricist and as a co-composer with Pop Time, Daily and Likey. The album-showcase report describes piano and guitar themes and a lyrical, powerful melody.
At that showcase, Hina explained the song through the hope of clear weather after a gloomy day. That emotional direction makes it a useful next choice after the nervous crush in “T.B.H.” Watch the official My Name Is Malguem video; if this is your favorite starting point, explore the rest of its eight-track mini album.

One song, two arrangements: T.B.H on THE FIRST TAKE
Once you know the original, try QWER’s T.B.H performance on THE FIRST TAKE, published on April 25, 2025. The official description identifies a special arrangement blending delicate ballad elements with the band sound. It is the same song in a different setting, so the comparison gives you something concrete to explore beyond a new music video.
Compare how the melody and accompaniment work together in each version. Which arrangement makes you want to return to the song? That is a more useful first-listener question than trying to rank the two performances.

QWER’s fans are called BAWIGE, the name used in their official fanclub notice. To continue exploring Korean bands, our DAY6 beginner’s guide offers another set of members, instruments and first songs.
