Does Weverse US Count for Billboard? What to Check

Some purchases do, but the Weverse US name alone is not a guarantee. Check the exact album version's current Billboard statement, shipping rules and dispatch plan before you order. An album title, a dollar price and a QR code each tell you something different.

A change in October 2026 makes old advice especially easy to misread: eligible Smart Media Albums can now contribute to Billboard charts. Here is how to compare a current notice with an older one and choose a purchase you actually want.

Start with the version's dated notice

Read the store region and full version name together. “Weverse US” is a storefront; “Weverse Albums” identifies an app-based music edition. Those names are related, but they are not interchangeable.

Three official examples, with their original dates
Notice and editionWhat the notice establishes
TWS — TO US
US preorder opened October 6, 2026
The current US notice says its Weverse Albums version is now Billboard-eligible. Release is scheduled for November 6; this is not an already released album's chart result.
j-hope — HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1 (Vinyl)
March 11, 2025 preorder notice
The US vinyl notice explicitly says this edition counts toward Billboard. It is a dated eligibility example, not a claim about today's stock.
Jimin — FACE
February 21, 2023 preorder notice
The historical US notice included FACE and the US Exclusive version but excluded its Weverse Albums version. That 2023 statement does not decide every QR album's eligibility in 2026.

The useful comparison is the written eligibility statement for the exact product, read in its own time. If a recent listing and an older announcement disagree, ask the seller to confirm the current edition rather than selecting whichever sentence you prefer.

Why “QR albums never count” is outdated

Luminate's September 8 announcement introduced Smart Media Album sales tracking in the US and Canada from October 2, 2026, with eligible sales contributing to Billboard rankings. These are physical objects that unlock an album's digital experience, for example through QR or NFC technology.

A QR code on its own is insufficient. Luminate's format guidance requires activation-based access to a dedicated album experience and accepts sales from approved Smart Media vendors. A code that merely sends you to an external streaming service is different.

Eligible Smart Media sales count as 0.5 equivalent units on album consumption charts and one sale on album sales charts (Billboard).

There is also a product-level limit: Luminate's registration rules allow a maximum of two chart-eligible Smart Media UPCs per album project across providers. A UPC is a product barcode. This concerns which products qualify, not a rule that a fan may buy only two copies.

Five checks before you pay

  1. Match the exact option. Read the album title, edition, music format and current Billboard wording. A photograph of several versions does not confirm which one you selected.
  2. Check the delivery region. The TWS US notice above limits shipping to the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, and excludes P.O. Box and APO/FPO/DPO addresses. It directs buyers in other regions to Global. For a UK or European order, use that seller's actual regional terms.
  3. Read the purchase limit. That TWS notice permits up to four per version. This is its store limit, not proof of a universal chart rule or a reason to buy four. Choose the quantity you want within your budget.
  4. Separate payment, release and shipment. A preorder payment does not establish the week in which a sale will appear. Check the seller's dispatch information as well as the release date.
  5. Confirm checkout terms and total cost. The TWS notice lists PayPal and Apple Pay. Check the options actually available to you, plus shipping and applicable charges. A USD display alone does not answer product eligibility or delivery eligibility.

Luminate's online physical-sales definition says distributors report on shipment and CONNECT records activity three days after shipping. That explains why paying today and appearing in a report today are separate events; it does not let us guarantee the Billboard week of an individual order.

Does Hanteo or Circle wording settle Billboard eligibility?

Check each chart separately. Hanteo's Physical Album Chart uses physical-album sales from its worldwide store network. Circle's official FAQ distinguishes its Album Chart, based on wholesale shipments with returns reflected, from its Retail Album Chart, based on retail sales. Circle's explanation here is summarized from Korean.

Those describe different measurements. A Hanteo or Circle statement is useful for that chart, but it cannot substitute for a current Billboard statement about the edition you plan to buy.

One question to send when the listing is unclear

For this exact edition and delivery country, is the purchase currently Billboard-eligible? Please confirm the current notice or product listing, purchase limit and dispatch estimate.

Keep the answer with your order details. Our buying suggestion is to choose one edition you would enjoy owning, confirm the chart statement if it matters to you, and compare the delivered price. Chart participation is one consideration alongside the music, format and inclusions.
